Pros

Premera has been a great career fit for me. I appreciate an environment where my work and ideas are valued. In general, the atmosphere is very collegiate, supportive, and collaborative. In my experience, there is opportunity for learning and growth within the organization. I have found great work/life balance and flexibility in my position, which is very important to me. Fantastic benefits, free parking and a beautiful campus are among the many other perks Premera provides.

Cons

Yes, there is a lot of change happening within the company. In my opinion, without change there cannot be growth, advancement or innovation. However, not everyone views change this way which can create friction at times.

Lay off methods....

Pros

Location, customer representatives, pension, coffee, cleanliness

Cons

Lack of trust, integrity, opportunity & transparency. Poor handling of all the lay offs in MLT, CP & SPO. Watch out for the gang mentality in upper management and best friend syndrome.

Pros

Overall good benefits and compensation is competitive. Telecommuting opportunities for some positions.

Cons

Management lacks organization and focus in their initiatives at times. What you work on or who you work for can change at any moment and there isn't much discussion about it. People disappear into thin air as there have been many lay offs. Salary increases are very low so even if you come in at a decent salary, don't expect it to keep up with the cost of living and that is a problem. Not many opportunities for promotion or growth. Some real problems in the culture of the management. Although there are some professional and nice people, there are managers that exhibit abusive behavior. Bottom line is: Premera was once a great company to work for but leadership has changed and the company is losing a lot of money. They will likely sell and whenever that happens, companies begin to scramble in their initiatives - it is clear that this is what it happening.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. We are always working to ensure that our compensation and benefits options are competitive in the marketplace. Decisions regarding any reductions in force are taken very seriously and are not decisions made lightly. We are proud of our leaders and teams for treating those impacted in a fair and respectful manner. Also, the expectation at Premera is that all employees and leaders are respectful. Without knowing the specifics of the situation you reference, we would like to encourage you to meet with your Employee Relations representative to work through any challenges you are having.
