Pros

Campus is within walking distance of 65% of its employees. Generous benefits / Healthcare coverage / HSA / Pension plan Annual Incentive Bonus plan

Cons

Pension plan creates an atmosphere of in-place retirement and long timers generally dont treat newcomers favorably. An incredibly risk-averse environment and the right decision is always the hardest way possible if you ask someone in management a question of any kind at all. Leadership among the management is nearly nonexistent and communication skills are severely lacking. Annual performance reviews are based on calendar year, but your actual rating and bonus will be most heavily determined by the new calendar year first quarter as the reviews and bonuses are not awarded until April. In effect employees are held hostage in Q1 and many people leave the company in April / May each year. Most people last 3 years of this.

Pros

Beautiful campus - landscaping always looks nice. Just added more parking, too (free) BBQ's in the summertime PTO policy - good incentive to not get sick! 22 days for the first 15 years, plus 8 company holidays Easy commute for those who live on the north end Pension plan in place, and is funded every year Good bonus and benefits plan (employee only doesn't pay any health plan premium) Company has stayed out of the negative press, a real plus given the healthcare industry today It's not Regence/Cambia! Focus on process improvement and doing the right thing - hasn't made the same blunders that Regence has Good local company to have on your resume Has won some new big name clients recently from national companies: Starbucks, Alaska Airlines Big name customers: Microsoft, Weyerhauser, etc. People want health insurance - company is largely recession proof...nice place to be 2008-2011

Cons

Some managers are great, others are horrible. Hope you get a great one! The "LEAN" philosophy is good overall, but in some departments, it translates into understaffing Not sure if the CEO still exists - it's been months since I've seen him...and I work on the same floor! It's in the healthcare industry - will this company still be around in 2 years? Anyone's guess... Management by textbook/article - managers take classes, read books, then assume they know it all
