Pros

The people are amazing, and I enjoy almost everyone I work with. Winter break office closure, wellness days, LinkedIn Learning access, new hire stipend, everyone is remote, friends I make on Slack, company events are fun, mostly female company, and my manager is awesome. I've worked at start-ups before, and this is by far the best one I have worked at.

Cons

There are times of the year when work life balance is hard and you are working LONG days. There was a layoff in March that no one saw coming because there was a lack of transparency in how the company was performing. Having worked in a start-up before the layoff is not new for me, but I have lost trust in leadership because there was no indication that the company wasn't doing well before the layoffs (unless you work in sales?).

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review of the company. It's great to hear that you have had such a positive experience with many aspects of your job, from the amazing people you work with to the various perks and benefits offered, like wellness days, LinkedIn Learning access, and more. It's fantastic that your manager has been a positive influence as well. However, it's important to address the cons you've mentioned. It's understandable that during certain times of the year, work-life balance can be challenging. Finding ways to support our people’s well-being and avoid burnout is important to us. Honest feedback like your's can be instrumental in driving positive change and promoting a better workplace for everyone. Lastly, it’s unfortunate that some reviews on this platform have exhibited a gender bias. We are proud to be a women-led organization, and encouraging an inclusive and supportive work environment is essential to us.

Pros

- Supportive direct management - Good mission, good people

Cons

- Laid off 30% of company without notice - No opportunities for promotions, raises, or bonuses - Leadership is not transparent - Zero perks and incentives - Lack of initiative Recent change in leadership was bad news for the organization. Of the positions they laid off, they are still looking to rehire. This organization that used to once be mission-oriented, is now about office politics and who you know.

We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. We rely on employee feedback to measure the success of our leadership and company. Since 2019, our employee engagement score has consistently stayed above benchmark, and our most recent engagement survey was 17 points higher than benchmark. Additionally, in December, our employees participated in recertifying our “Great Places To Work” status, with 89% of our employees affirming that Presence is a Great Place To Work. We welcome a more interactive conversation with you to more deeply understand your concerns and ensure that we are receiving valued feedback on how to continue to build an inclusive and supportive culture.

Major lack of direction

Pros

Many employees are (or were; see below) super-supportive and willing to help jump in to solve problems. I truly enjoyed so many of the people I had the good fortune to work with. Also, the stated goals of the company and the anecdotal results are excellent and heartwarming and admirable.

Cons

Leadership does not seem to understand what they're doing with the company and just engaged in mass layoffs, apparently for no reason other than it seems to be en vogue in the tech industry at the moment. Upper management seems utterly unaccountable for poor decision making, which only serves to perpetuate poor decision making.
