This company had one of the most toxic management cultures I have dealt with. There was constant micromanagement, and some managers seemed to think leadership meant hovering over people, second-guessing everything, and using their title to make subordinates feel small. Too many people in management came across as insecure, incompetent, and more focused on control than on actually helping anyone do good work.
Some managers had a habit of scoffing during 1:1s, and it was demoralizing as hell. You won't have a perfect paper trail for every interaction, but you'll remember those conversations vividly because of how openly dismissive, smug, and belittling they felt. It was the kind of treatment that chips away at you over time. Nothing direct enough to make it easy to escalate, just enough contempt, condescension, and petty hostility to make sure you knew exactly where you stood. That kind of behavior does not motivate people. It just makes them miserable.
Overall, the place feels fake, hostile, and exhausting in a way that is hard to explain unless you have actually worked under managers like that.
