Pros

PwC can be a great place to start your career. I learned so much and met incredible people during my time at the firm. Unfortunately, my practice chooses to discriminate against those who take leave. I was interrogated upon my return from leave by my RL. Instead of welcoming me back from leave, he asked “while you were on leave, did you reconsider having a career” and “did you reconsider your position at PwC”… I asked him “do you have a problem with me having a career and family” and his response was “well, I uhh, umm, uhh”… which told me everything I needed to know. My future at the firm was over. I’ve also watched others go through similar challenges or be pushed out post-leave.

Cons

As expected cons by a big 4 firm.

Some good. Mostly bad.

Pros

Pay is good. Some projects are good. Working here looks good on your resume for other jobs in industry.

Cons

There are a lot! Some Partners and Directors have no business being people leaders. They are good at other things, but they do not prioritize mentoring their direct reports. This results in some people at PwC not getting an equitable shot at growth. PwC also does not care about your mental health. They say they do, but the most important thing is that you bend over backwards to appease the Partners. This means you work as long as it takes no matter the cost to your well being. Finally, so many reorganizations. At this point, we’re averaging at least one reorganization a year. It’s a running joke. Make a decision already.

Pros

-the perks: Wellhub gym membership access, expensed meals & travel, good benefits -good pay, happy hours, team dinners, christmas party, promotion day -good exposure and good hands-on experience across the different jobs -culture breeds quick skills such as delegating and running client calls

Cons

-seniors and managers often won't know what you're talking about since they're not in the weeds so you will have to be very self sufficient and often can't use them as a resource before they say "did you look at last year?" "did you email client?" etc. -more incompetence than you would expect -laid off after busy season -so much work just sent off to offshore teams. it's lazy and they often don't have the accounting concepts down, just doing routine cppy pasting or rolling from last year -review by managers and partners in the form of coaching notes SO aggravating putting their little questions and revisions and you have to go back in to answer basic stuff they could easily find or change themselves but because it's not worth their time they make you do it -brown nosing the client
