Meat Grinder

Pros

Career acceleration, good learning experience.

Cons

My girlfriend worked there for 3 years, I've known some others who have worked at the big 4 (ey deloitte and kpmg) and my impression is that pwc is the biggest meat grinder of them all - or at least the big tech clients in San Diego. Busy seasons are consistent 9am-midnight plus work on weekends. Filing is similar work times: This week my girlfriend worked 9am-2am Monday, 9am-midnight in office Tuesday, and will be working similar shifts the rest of the week. The anxiety, depression, and sleepless nights this company will bring must truly be an inherent internal objective. This kind of abhorrent work life balance is shared for all positions: associate through partner. The carrot-on-a-stick isn't worth it and I sincerely hope this review gives those considering working here a new found interest in the other big four, or towards public or finance as an alternative for your mental health.

Pros

Holiday Vacation Extended holidays Mid year firm wise hike

Cons

Full of white people at top level management. Unfair selection process. Referred someone for Talent acquisition opening who has relevant experience but resume got rejected. A gym trainer with no relevant experience got selected for the same. What a scam! Only white gets promoted every year. No 360 degree review process. So can’t complain about your top hierarchy.

Pros

Big company, lots of different opportunities, tech management seems pretty open to people moving around on a regular basis

Cons

Very business-driven, little to no regard for work life balance even though upper management preaches that it needs to be better. Even if you land on a team with a good tech stack, most teams don't have any unit tests or automation but are expected to maintain flawless production performance. Developers consistently work late nights and weekends to get stories done. No effort by tech leads to understand their associates' career interests and goals, all about the bottom line. Poor utilization of developers existing skillsets.
