Pros

It looks great on your resume.

Cons

Your experience completely depends on the group you get to work with/for and your assigned client(s). Unfortunately, I worked with a hell Director that had no life herself and therefore did not allow anyone on our team to have a life. They contuniously preach (and put in print) the importance of work/life balance, but behind the scenes (and definitely not in print), they put unrealistic demands on Management and Staff which makes it nearly impossible to have a life. And unfortunately they do not currently have the amount of work available for individuals to make a choice. Additionally, moving ahead in the Firm does not depend on your quality of work but on who you know and how well the Partners like you and unfortunately the office I was in contains a large number of "good ole boy" Partners that are still resistant to women moving ahead.

Pros

1. The people are the absolutely amazing! You will be pushed hard at PwC, but as long as you are putting in effort you will be supported. 2. The benefits are also pretty good. 401(k) match is bad, but you get 2.5 weeks of firm shutdown time (July 4 week and Christmas / New Years) in addition to your vacation days. I probably get 5 weeks of vacation, which is really generous. They also pay for my phone and phone plan, which is a nice perk. 3. The experience is really good. You get a lot of exposure to big name clients, and you will learn a lot during your time at PwC.

Cons

1. The work is unfulfilling. All I do check people's work, ask for support, and document my findings. There is no decision making, and if you value making an impact you will not find that in the audit space. 2. Middle management is pretty good, but director and up seem pretty disconnected from the lower staff levels.

Pros

You get to say "I worked at the shadow government" after you quit.

Cons

* Spending actually 8 hours a day on the same zoom call with your manager * Being assigned to what seems to be management consulting projects as a software engineer * Terrible pay, job title means nothing, no significant way to get things changed * Doesn't listen to project placement requests and sticks you on projects where you'd be "estimating" costs and creating "recommendations" about potential changes they may possibly want to make
