Pros
Lots of smart and eager people. Good opportunity for those starting out in their career.
Cons
PwC is obsessed with self-promotion and teamwork suffers. In short, if you make yourself available without a self-serving agenda, you will fail at PwC. Middle-management roles are often also Partners who are not at all accountable for the success of the people who report to them. Sincere professionals in some practices must rely on their ‘talent manager’ to allocate client work, but they are set up to fail. These people are not in the same technical vertical and don’t understand the skillsets of the professionals they try to assign, resulting in poor utilization of the professional. Many were laid off because of this issue. Spending substantial time in proposal work to help partners get client deals, will hurt your career as it doesn’t add to one’s utilization. There is no leadership. As a seasoned professional, I offer to help where I can and offer practical suggestions on how to improve. In PwC, this was met with: ‘You won’t change anything. This is how it is.’ I wish them the best. I’m glad I moved on.
