Pros

Some good people that try really hard but generally get stymied by lackluster middle-management and completely disconnected upper management.

Cons

QTS is really a second/third tier player in both the data center and managed hosting/cloud markets. Their data centers are decent but usually in smaller tier 2 cities. The managed services and cloud offers are a disaster. There is virtually no innovation at the product level. Compliance is a disaster. Pay is sub-par compared to the industry Benefits are almost laughable. Terrible health insurance. Employee stock program with no employee discount!!! What is the point? Etrade anyone? The Carpathia acquisition made everything worse. Carpathia employees had chips on their shoulders because they couldn't cash-in on getting purchased.

There's a reason you keep seeing the word "clueless" in the reviews

Pros

OK if you want to keep your mouth shut and not question decisions or offer opinions.

Cons

Suffers from extremely bad and arrogant management going all the way to the top. The number of terrible decisions made by the executives is staggering and they'll do anything to make the company look better to investors. They love to claim that they're about family but on a number of occasions they let people go 2 weeks before Christmas so they could get salary off the books by year end. All-hands meetings were always uncomfortable due to the excessive references to God and Jesus - felt more like a cult than a company. Your opinions, criticisms, and ideas won't be welcomed.

Don't believe the hype about QTS

Pros

Pay is decent and they want people to volunteer.

Cons

Everything else. Leadership is hypocritical. no work-life balance. Powered by people - not at all. "We can't solve anything we can't talk about" -- laughable. Biggest culture of blame. Yes they encourage volunteerism, but only to make the CEO look good. I'm sorry but this place is THE WORST.

It is unfortunate that you have not had a favorable experience at QTS. If you are a current employee, you are encouraged to speak with your leadership team or People Services. You may know that QTS recently implemented a flex plan which provides employees 52 days per year to work remotely, Q-Rest sabbatical program for employees to take additional time away for rest and renewal, and paid time off days to enjoy doing the things you love away from work – all in addition to our long-standing culture of supporting our employees when individual needs arise.
