Pros

Challenging work that forced me to improve my skills and practice conflict resolution. Inspired by the dedication and hard-work of my team.

Cons

Not enough financial resources to run the company efficiently. Highly incompetent and devious employees in leadership roles. True problem-solving and innovation is shunned in favor of dysfunctional status-quo.

It is a nonprofit organization. Its quality improvement side has gained national prominence. There are many intelligent talented people working there.

Cons

The Care Management side of the company has experienced dramatic change with poor change management creating change exhaustion.

“Healthcare Nonprofit Good for Some Not All”

Pros

Working for an organization that successfully improves healthcare for many people. Good health benefits and employee recognition for those working directly in the medical community and who are lucky enough to have a good supervisor. Some supervisors are good managers; others could use some training in constructive managerial tactics and empathy training.

Cons

Atmosphere is positive in only some departments, depending on the supervisor. Employee recognition and incentives are few and far between. Pay is below average in most areas. Growth potential is limited dependent upon how leadership/HR views the position which is typically in a limited, non-adaptive view. There is little room for those in support positions to advance to higher, mid-level positions no matter how many skills they master and improve upon or years they invest working there. The general work environment is static, linear, unchanging and uninspiring. It is a good work place for a few and a revolving door for more.
