Pros

They pay senior roles good money.

Cons

It's hard to quantify all the bad experiences at Quanta. This is a company that grew through acquisition and that bends easily to any unreasonable request from its organization units and other individuals in the organization. Quanta is a fortune 400 company managed like a bad mom and pop store. The company's leadership has very little consideration for their investors and employees, wasting money and resources based on the wishes coming from people that are part of the family of the founders. I've seen millions of dollars wasted on unnecessary solutions or because nobody had the backbone to stand up to the childish behavior of some of the OPUs' leadership. There is very little strategy on anything that is done, as long as OPUs and someone's cousin are not upset you can do anything, but if you challenge a bad decision or the status quo, you will be humiliated. The company presents itself as a respectful corporation, but it's far from being a nice place to work. It's a toxic environment that impacts people's health and a revolving door in many departments as it's hard for good individuals to deal with the egocentric leadership of the company. It's at least interesting to observe and try to understand why the board of directors allow the extravagances that happen in the company (e.g.: Q Ranch), but it is true that the company has a huge backlog of business. Last but not least, the most sad and revolting thing about Quanta is to see leadership commemorating catastrophic events that impact, hurt and kill thousands of people (hurricanes, tornados etc) like winning the lottery, as these events make the company millions of dollars once they are contracted to rebuild electrical infrastructure. People with a brain, a soul and a spine will struggle to work here in most cases. It's not worth the money...

Pros

Good money if busy enough

Cons

Management is over your back constantly. Work pays you per job. Some days you can be done by noon and you wait around for more work. Horrible company. No paid days off for vacation, sick days or holiday. Not family oriented. Horrible benefits. I paid over 800 a month for insurance for me and my wife and daughter. No room to move up in company. You are just a money making machine to them and they don't care about you.

Pros

Nice coworkers. Free coffee, tea and sodas. They support continuing education, at least in the groups I've worked in. In accounting, they provide lunch and sometimes dinner during the close cycles. For a few, very specific skill sets, it seems to be a place to add marketable experience to a resume.

Cons

The company has grown so fast that they can't seem to get out of their own way and seemingly without planning - meaning doubling in size without consideration for adding the necessary staff to support the growth or without maintaining or upgrading critical tools used to support work. Few policies or meaningful processes exist so the so-called "wheel" must be reinvented on a regular basis when new employees start. Management doesn't lead so what few goals are provided are vague and virtually impossible to define or implement though they have been known to drive very poor behavior on the part of management to meet them in the name of obtaining their bonuses. Management doesn't set a clear direction or priorities so work life is chaotic and unstructured which translates to much fire fighting, unplanned work and last minute changes in priorities. Many of the members of management are poor leaders and do not provide positive engagement with or role models for their subordinates. As for career paths, few are defined in a meaningful way. As a result, some departments have very high rates of turn-over on an annualized basis. It has become a very difficult environment to work in. Everyone talks about the corporate culture but so many new people have come that the culture is hard to find or define.
