A lot of smoke and mirrors.... now

Pros

The company was built on great ideas that are still found in some of the employees and select management. They provide a decent PTO package.

Cons

They don't "do what they say" , upper management and owners turn a blind eye and actually ask to remain ignorant about issues and they devalue tenured employees.

Pros

Decent starting pay and benefits for a call center. Lots of nice people. Great hours. Great mission concept.

Cons

Confused, inexperienced management. Top heavy, and out of touch with the reality in the pods. Original mission is preached, but the opposite is enforced by pod "management" and not even understood by most hired in recent years.

Pros

Free food and some nice people.

Cons

Advancement and reviews are essentially a beauty contest, and are based on how well others like you versus your actual content knowledge or the quality of your work. I agree you need to play well with other's but when it's the essence of your review and your manager's feedback is based on "what other's say" without any regard to actual performance is a farce. It's a clear indication that your direct manager doesn't have a clue of who you are and really doesn't care, because they haven't taken the time to figure it out. The process is there because most of the managers don't have any real management experience, can't lead and they don't have to actually 'own' the review process, it's just a check off item on a list and a CYA for HR. Theoretically, everybody is suppose to hold each other accountable through 'open and honest' communication...if you believe that's what's going on here, I have a Unicorn and a 'warrior bunny' for sale! Yes, most of the executive leadership team is in complete denial about this too, because the vast majority of the people working here just want to hang onto a job and know that as soon as you say something negative or question someone in leadership, you are done! So it's easier to keep quiet and hang on. At the end of the day, we were working at just another call center and an expensive one at that. So the way to get ahead here is to first work in the food services industry, because it's so closely related to the heath care industry. Then you must play all the ridiculous company reindeer games and make sure all company activities are prioritized above family and every other aspect of your personal life. Last but not least, check your brain at the front door, say yes to everything, question nothing, drink plenty for the free Kool Aid and make sure you get a seat at the 'cool kid' table close to Kara at company events.
