Cons
I will preface by saying that I have utilized my resources and their so called open door policy in the past. Only for it to be slammed shut in my face as well as many of my colleagues. I worked at this company for 3 years. It started out as a fantastic opportunity but sadly the other shoe dropped. Management needs a lot of work. As a PSR, you are put into a “POD” that will have several different clients and thousands of members. Your chance to grow in this company depends on if you have an exceptional leader. If you decide to join this company, pray that you get placed in a pod that has a manager that wants you to grow, assists you in that growth and one that is knowledgeable. They will quote how you make your own journey here but believe me when I say, you best be a management favorite. Make sure to take the time to really suck up to them because your work ethic alone is not enough. I worked in several different pods and the leadership that they hire externally into the company is appalling. They will not be able to help you or even answer your questions. Some of them will even belittle you. They say they want transparency. However, they will turn it negatively back on you when you do become transparent and provide feedback on improvements. As a PSR, it will be a sink or swim experience. Luckily, I do have a background in healthcare but some of my colleagues were not so lucky. They do provide training but once you hit the pod floor, the experience is significantly different which they do not convey in those first few weeks. After your training is up, you will find it hard to obtain assistance and get clear and concise explanations regarding the answers that you need. The next issue is the clients, you will find yourself being railroaded by the members because their employer failed to educate them on policy changes and failed to have in depth discussions with their employees on what they may have to deal with when on boarding with QH. It’s all about saving the employer money in the long run. All to have never ending members call you and yell at you about claim issues or the ineptitude of our employees that they previously spoke to. You will also get yelled at because the members pay such high cost in premiums to be then met with denials for services and or since the employer decided to switch to QH now need prior authorizations that need to be deemed medically necessary by the plan criteria. Again, the main goal is to save the clients money. I’m sure the vision of QH was designed with the member in mind to help them navigate the confusion of health insurance. However as it falls now, it’s really about getting the next person on the call and client needs, that’s why they implemented AI. QH will sell these employers a dream only for QH to be able to fulfill 30-50% of that expectation(im being generous). We are just a middle man that can only do so much. So many issues that are out of our scope as a PSR. The pay that we receive doesn’t equate to the decline in our mental health for being a punching bag. What I was quoted, “we can only do what we can with the tools provided” but unfortunately we are on the front line to deal with the backlash. During the interview they will paint the picture like we are truly helping people but not too far in the journey you are faced with the realization that you’re on the wrong side. It’s very rare you get one of the good cases that make you feel like you are making a difference. The knowledge that I have gained from my time at QH has been truly thought provoking on the disaster of the American Healthcare system. The company has went far downhill. The leadership in this company has been rather vague in the changes they were making in incorporating this “Next Gen Restructuring” yet constantly reassuring this would be a great thing for QH and its members. Recently, they have laid off and or demoted several employees. They have removed several positions/roles as well. Decreasing some of these individuals pay and their job title, even some of the perks that come with being in that role. Some of these employees, I was able to see first hand the tremendous talent and skill they brought to the table all while being blindsided by an employer that in reality, never truly cared at all. Some individuals of this company were promoted to positions they were definitely not qualified for, taking away from those that have been loyal to QH for MANY years that worked their tails off to get promoted only to now be met with being back to square one. The downsizing and restructuring has now made it less likely to have any true growth here or deems you to grow in positions that are less favorable which rarely open up. I could go on and on. There is plenty of other reviews that sums it up.
