Helps build your resume. Steady income.

Cons

No home and work life balance. Pay is very low do to the amount of work you must put in. On call 24/7/365. Hourly employees are underpaid and not appreciated by upper management. Upper management is toxic to hourly employees.

Pros

Schedule in San Antonio is good most of the time Monday-Friday 8 hours a day when fully staffed and the plant isn’t behind. Physically not very hard most days.

Cons

Very low pay for a “railroad” and expensive benefits. If you’re short staffed or the plant is behind plan on working every Saturday and some Sundays. Management will do absolutely nothing about raises or to even raise starting wages so they can actually find people that want to work here. Then have the audacity to want you to take on more responsibilities.

I had a 40hr guaranteed work week with competitive pay and good benefits. Got along well enough with the crew.

Cons

Shifts in corporate making the job more difficult. And you will be out side in the heat and rain and cold
