Pros

Giant company with some opportunities if you have drive and ambition. I personally worked with great management and highly skilled co-workers. Working from home and flexible work schedules for IT workers are a huge plus. RR Donnelley has implemented a number of community service programs through the company inclusion council. The company is growing through acquisition and attempting move into high growth areas to offset the decline in traditional ink on paper.

Cons

I've been at the company 7+ years. I have seen the pension frozen, 401K match taken away, no training, little to no raises, benefits costs rising. Every little perk has been taken away in order to "cut costs" and please shareholders. Everyone, even top performers, are treated pretty much the same. I don't see this pattern changing going forward.

Pros

There are none. We are all experiencing stress-related health issues from the working conditions and living in fear as to when they'll fire you to save money.

Cons

After the company announced the 1% raise we received for 2013, they purchased yet another competitor. They strip the assets from these companies and have shut down 27 plants since 2007. RRD has taken away anything that was considered a perk and make sure the upper management and shareholders get their $. They no longer contribute $ to our retirement accounts. They fire experienced people over 50 and hire younger people who have a degree but don't have a clue what to do with them. When someone quits they don't replace them, instead they spread the work to others. This trickledown effect is very painful when you want to take a vacation day and there's no coverage. Many employees are unable to use their vacation time and lose it. Do yourself a favor and don't ever apply. We are treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark and feed manure.

Pros

Pay was okay, that's about it.

Cons

Expensive benefits. Old boy culture with clueless, ruthless management. Atmosphere of harassment, intimidation and bullying. No sick leave. If you do get sick, you live in fear of losing your job until you're better. Some good co-workers, but all lived in fear and resentment. Any concerns or complaints are ignored. The HR department is a joke, If you complained to HR about anything, you were labeled a "loose cannon" and would be targeted and eliminated.
