Pros

Great coworkers and free lunches.

Cons

Horrible management, no breaks, employees were excused from their job duties if they cried enough about being overwhelmed and everyone else was expected to pick up their slack. Poor and weak training for employees. Strong employees are punished for having opinions. It was a train wreck. Goodbye forever...

Not a place to work. No one cares about you or your talents and will not pay you what you are worth.

They do not care one bit about you!

Pros

Great accounting department! The people are wonderful and the hours are fairly flexible. Lots of variety, I have never been bored.

Cons

The workload is very high. I have rarely worked a 40 hour week - they have squeezed countless unpaid hours out of me. The turnover is very high (no surprise) and it is not just in accounting. The wages are below market; which upper management is aware of but refuses to change. Also, no open toed shoes! Honestly, let's get with the times.

I hope you’ve been willing to talk with your manager about your frustrations. If you haven’t yet, I’d encourage you to do that. In the meantime, here’s some information for you and others to shed light on a few of your comments. Your role as a Senior Accountant is an exempt role, so you are paid for the job you do and not the hours you work, which has allowed you to have the flexibility in your hours. As you know, accounting is a cyclical department with month-end close, budgets, and audits, so there are times when there are more hours, which is why we work hard to be flexible when possible as well. We’ve also added seven positions to our accounting and finance team in the past two years to address workload concerns and focus on process improvements. And, we’ve made a significant investment in a new billing system and overhaul of our Datawarehouse to enhance our infrastructure. Both of those system upgrade projects are still in progress, and we are optimistic the finished product will help with efficiencies for many associates, including our accounting staff. We don’t like it when people leave either. Our corporate turnover in 2015 was 15.5%, which we don’t love, but is actually in line with national turnover statistics. And yes, we do have a “no open-toed shoes” policy. The reason for this is that we’re a healthcare company; we have needles in all of our centers, and it’s not safe to have open toed shoes in that environment. Sure, our corporate team isn’t in the centers every day, but we do want them to be in our facilities, including our flagship location which is located in the same building as our corporate office, so we have extended that policy to all associates. We offer six company-paid holidays, two floating holidays, and a paid time off program to allow associates to take time off throughout the year. You’re welcome to use your floating holidays for the days you mentioned. Again, we’re a healthcare company, and when a patient needs a radiology procedure, they don’t have the luxury of waiting. Because of that, remaining open on days like President’s Day, but allowing people to use their float holiday if it works for their department allows us to both serve our patients and allow for flexibility for our staff. We know we’re not perfect and have opportunities to improve, which we’re working on, but we also know as you said that we have wonderful people who work well together and we provide interesting work in a meaningful industry that makes a difference in patient’s lives, and that’s why many of our associates choose to stay at our organization.
