Nothing changes. Management is very poor and dominated by women who are all in cahoots with one another.

The clients are wonderful people regardless of some behaviors. They show unconditional love and are a great reward.

Cons

In spite of the rewarding benefits of working with the service users, the poor management and crisis management philosophy take it all away and not worth it.

You can do a lot of good for many people; that has to be your primary motivator here, compensation takes a back seat.

Pros

You're surrounded by people who care about others and want them to succeed, this includes those in leadership positions and, to a large degree with few exceptions, everyone else you work with. Although the job can be taxing at times, if you're able to manage your time well, and have the ability to "let things roll off your back" when necessary, this can be a great place to work. The people are first-rate, and the atmosphere among peers is laid-back. I don't miss the politics and posturing I'd become so accustomed to in previous jobs one bit, and I actually feel like I'm accomplishing something when I get out of the bed each day. Yes, as Pollyannaish as I know that sounds, it's the truth.

Cons

The benefits and compensation aren't what you'd expect for the amount of work involved and the skills required. They are in line with what you'd expect for a non-profit, but I'm not sure if this holds true for one of its size. While some portions of RHA have integrated technology and other tools to make work easier, many other aspects still have a mom-and-pop feel to it. This can be a good thing at some organizations, adding to the relaxed atmosphere that can be attractive to employees, but there are some very archaic processes in place that make you shake your head in wonder. It can be frustrating at times.
