Pros

Several leaders are afraid of public speaking, so if you can fill that gap for them, you can get attaboys rather quickly. Low-skilled workforce so mediocrity really shines. Lots of blame shifting, so its easy to now really do much. Several skilled and long-term employees have left, so you could prob slide right in because we're bleeding talent.

Cons

Pick your topic and Rackspace is mediocre at best and in decline for sure. It's a very sad place. Our customers are fully aware of this company's decline and it's depressing and a difficult cloud to work under. No managers and several D-level leaders are afraid to talk to the Front line or present any sort of truth. Several "Good ol' boys" clubs within the company. I do mean exclusively to men (Vmware) helping other guys advance their career for little to no actions as long as they have jokes and like hunting. There's a history of scandal as well within this circle. Company severely under appreciates everyone and everything.

Pros

- tech industry standard benefits - 180 pto hours - 24 vto hours

Cons

- poor leaders - the cycle of the revolving door of leadership continues - poor sales dept and terrible on the support side - this company isn’t the rackspace of 10 years ago - a lot of customers will leave because there is such an internal mess. they constantly get new reps and account managers and some customers haven’t been talked to in years. they do seem to get their bill no problem though... - quotas are too high! poor path of career development - the best sellers are consistently leaving because they are underpaid and promises are left unkept - this company finds ways to bend the numbers each month - rackspace wants to be something it’s not. A leader in the tech industry. - my advice get in and use company as a stepping stone. Look for companies like Google and AWS as next. - the reality of the fact is that this one of the few tech companies in San Antonio but it doesn’t compete with similar ones up in Austin.

Pros

Work from home every once in a while and you do learn a lot about technology platforms across the hosting industry. You can learn and get certified through other leading platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP products.

Cons

Underpaid! Unprofessional and completely incompetent managers/VP's and C-level executives that come in for 3-months at a time and leave or get fired. The culture that was once there is completely dead and RAX should be considered career suicide. You have to project manage and help the implementation team and account managers because they aren't technical at all, and you have to do up to 3-4 other peoples jobs at the same time you're trying to sell and focus on your presentations and other important duties that you're 100% responsible for. The SDR and Inbound lead generation team picks favorites when passing prospects over to begin the discovery/consultation process. It's tough to have solid leads that will convert into real business/dollars when the person passing them is incompetent and knows noting about IT or hosting in general (lead gen team is terrible and at times useless). This is a painful process and Rackspace gives you nothing to show for it from a compensation standpoint. OTE usually starts out between 75k-85k when we should be realistically earning around 150k OTE as a starting point. We also had on-call shifts where every sales rep will take turns working with customers that call between 8am and 12:00am on the weekends and 6pm to 12am during the week where beards require that you stay at home next to your laptop and cell to speak with customer that would want to buy a server at 10:00pm which obviously wasn't successful and poorly executed like every other aspect of this company.
