RCHSD has a wonderful reputation in the community for good reason. In the 5+ years I worked there, everyone I met went above and beyond to provide exceptional care to children and families.
Cons
As wonderful as the organizational mission and vision are, RCHSD has a serious problem with its leadership that needs to be addressed: management is very vindictive and adult employees are treated like children. Employees are worked to the point of burnout and there are no effective protective measures to prevent this. Every leader I met was extremely burned out as well, and as a result were apathetic to employees who expressed overwhelm. The CARES model is shoved in the face of anyone who respectfully speaks their mind. Managers would talk critically of employees on speaker phone and the employees would have to listen to it while working. My manager had a reputation for often crying and complaining about her job to pretty much anyone who would listen. She often gossiped about coworkers to each other, and was emotionally manipulative and volatile. We caught her in several lies, including falsifying financial documents. Her leadership knew about all of this, and did nothing to stop her because they are friends and pity her. I had to carefully plan my departure from RCHSD and it was very difficult. My manager had bragged to me about trying to sabotage other employees from moving on to other positions, whether within RCHSD or outside. The politics and petty drama are stifling and completely unnecessary. There are cliques and favorites. Mistakes are never forgotten, and employee improvement plans are used to threaten employees who do not live up to unrealistic productivity standards. Conversely, when leaders are put on plans it's often just for show, to make an example of them. If they cry and beg for their job, they will be shown mercy. The management seems to enjoy it when employees break down and cry. The culture is sick and every day that I no longer work there, I gain back more of my happiness and self esteem. A leader called me a traitor on my last day although I left on good terms to pursue career advancement. That was the last thing anyone at RCHSD ever said to me: "You're a traitor for leaving us." ...and I'm so glad I did.
