Pros

Free lunch on fridays Decent health insurance

Cons

Management has child like reactions and often berates support team openly/in front of the entire team. Management makes empty guarantees/promises for your growth. I've personally watched several people here be guaranteed a certain pay or position, and when it came time to do so management let them all down. They continue to try and string people along with the same fake promises and insinuate you're worthless if you're not working over 10 hours a day. The support team is losing more members faster than they can hire. The hirings they are making are for the wrong shift (because they intend to replace the entire Cebu and Irvine office) and wrong position. Calls are no longer rolling but if you're tier 1 or 2 you're constantly getting escalations where minimal work or troubleshooting has been done since they're throwing all the contractors they can at a problem hoping a few will stick instead of fixing their root cause. Training is little to know so when these contractors are brought on they're thrown into the fire to support solutions they know minimal to nothing about. Speaking of Rapidscale is famous for their breakfix. 99 out of a hundred times instead of finding root cause things are just bandaided or pushed off onto another department. This isn't true of all individuals as some go above and beyond to fix things however they likely face repercussions from management for going outside of their scope and wasting supports time. Management changes policies and procedures almost weekly, so you never truly know what's going on or what's valid. Did I mention the department segregation? Support is the redheaded stepchild who is essentially forbidden from interacting with the rest of the org. Meanwhile engineering, implementations, and account management all get along fine. Some customer contracts are missing and management isn't even sure what services a customer has or what is supported. A good example is direct management doesn't understand the difference from IAAS vs PAAS which led directly to mismanaged and unpatched systems for several upset clients. Everything is metrics metrics metrics. You may have worked on ryuuk infection all week busting your butt, but when next week comes and you only closed 4 cases they're gonna rip you for being an underachiever. Don't work here, not only will they not pay you right, they'll treat you as less than a human being.

Pros

None come to mind, I would mention the free lunch on Friday's, but that does nothing to make better for all of the negative aspects to this employer. You are much better off to buy your own lunch and save yourself from the nightmare that is rapidscale.

Cons

1. CIO acts like a child and dictator. Emotional decision are made and they become the law. The CIO is out of touch with technology and employees. 2. CEO does not know how to operate a business. Enough said here, many empty promises get made then he will go back on said promises when something costs too much or is too inconvenient for him. 3. Overworked. The salary may seem nice, but you won't see any overtime and you WILL be working an excessive amount of it. The CIO will often set unrealistic timelines for projects to be completed just to see the revenue in his pocket. The deadlines are either not met or are met improperly and a disaster ensues that has to be cleaned up. Of course said disaster is not the CIO's fault, it's yours! 4. Toxic culture. They have this fake "company culture" with free lunches and a fun work environment, but you'll find out very quickly that it's just on the surface. This is a terrible place to work and you will be treated unfairly and poorly. 5. Benefits are terrible. Low employer contributions, bad coverage and no 401k matching.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re excited to see you appreciated the compensation structure while you were at RapidScale. We believe in paying top performers well. That being said, I’m truly sorry that you didn’t advance your career and/or meet your desired career goals while here at RapidScale. RapidScale was once a startup company that grew quickly, thanks to the hard-working colleagues that you most likely were. As of August 2018, RapidScale is owned by Cox Enterprises, a $20B family-owned company that has won numerous employee satisfaction awards, in addition to the “Best Work Environments” award RapidScale won in 2017. Since the acquisition, we’ve added numerous additional benefits for our employees that can only come with the size of a $20B company, including unrivaled healthcare coverage, 401k matching, unlimited PTO, and much more. In addition, our senior management team has grown and changed immensely since this feedback was provided, and we’ve added many seasoned C-level business leaders who today help run the business. We are still entrepreneurial, operating inside of the Cox ecosystem, but no longer function in that ever-changing startup mode that many thrive in, but that may not have been the right fit for you. While we work hard to pay the best employees the best salaries, our non-exempt employees do sometimes work overtime and are paid for it. This is communicated upfront during hiring. Most of our hourly employees look forward to working overtime. That being said, this is a fast-paced, accountability-based work environment designed for top performers and that will hopefully always be ingrained in our culture. Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. We meet weekly to improve the culture here and are always looking to get better. Your feedback has been invaluable in making us a better company.

Pros

Benefits, a steady paycheck, and the best colleagues you could ask for.

Cons

Hypocritical Leadership: A rigid, punitive Return-to-Office (RTO) policy is being enforced on local staff while over half of the executive team remains remote, 4 out of 7 are remote. This "do as I say, not as I do" mentality has shattered company morale. Toxic Management Culture: Leadership leans on intimidation and "radical compliance" rather than trust. Publicly telling dissatisfied employees to "just leave" has created a culture of fear and contempt. Instability: Constant "fire drill" mentalities, shifting goals, and poor strategic planning result in wasted hours and employee burnout. High Turnover & Brain Drain: Excessive layoffs followed by aggressive hiring of "yes-people" has led to a massive loss of tribal knowledge. Star performers are "rage quitting" due to being overworked (doing the jobs of 3–4 people) or being pipped out because they don't fall in line with newer regime. Lack of Growth & Resources: While the workforce is called the "growth engine," employees are denied the resources and career paths needed to succeed, while upper management layers continue to expand through nepotism. Questionable Ethics: A culture of protectionism for those close to the top, leading to a total deficit of accountability for leadership.
