When you first start they tell you, “it’s what you make of it,” and I believe this to be true- it strongly depends on the information you are given when you first start, how long you’ve already been there. I worked there for almost a year and a half and when I first started, 6 months or so in, pay was great and environment was a dream. People were making money. You were receiving the challenges that you should expect in a competitive sales environment. Unfortunately, to those that are not natural sales people, the cookie crumbles quickly. You feel the pressure early on and if you are not at a certain average within your center, well say bye bye to your job. I started out with about 5 from my training team (that lasted beyond the two week training period) and 3 were fired within 3 months for lack of performance; granted, the pressure, even back then, was not for everyone, but these people tried! - a plan action for bottom sellers to improve which you are not informed actually exists during your training period. Moving on, if you aren’t up to speed with politics within the workplace, you’ll learn more than a thing or two here. After my first six months, things started to shift for the worst. Commision pay decreased consistently and significantly over the last year.. but don’t you dare ask why it’s happening because all upper management will do is tell you how it will “benefit” you and the company; OT is required and it can be at a moments noticed. Only top 10% of you department is actually making the money but thats BECAUSE they also receive the best quality calls, aside from a consistent call flow, they say nothing much mkee different than the “average” sales agent on their calls. Morally bankrupt form of selling expected; screwing over the customer in a heartbeat, but is this what the CEO Ric Elias would expect? Lastly, your direct supervisors, be WEARY to trust they have your best interest at heart because they will screw you over by doing a bad job on their part, it happened to me; be aware of the politics taking place, once again, and know people here in the end are in it for themselves. This place overall does a fantastic job of sugar coating the unending stress; it’s become an environment like any other call center.
