A world class education, but no upward mobility or long term career prospects.
Pros
Red Ventures is a top digital marketing agency in in terms of how they develop and train new employees. If you're looking for a place to cut your teeth for SEO, content creation, partnership management, or linkbuilding experience (and prioritize skill-building over salary), RV is the company for you. Teams regularly exchange tribal knowledge and keep in close communication about industry-wide best practices, both of which increase team's and individual employee's likelihood of success. RV also maintains a broad portfolio of websites, many of which have a high DR, and will give those involved the opportunity to flex and get the feel for multiple forms of marketing, outreach, and content styles.
Cons
Salaries are significantly below market standards, annual raises average at 5% per year (even despite significant inflation in 2021), and opportunities for promotion are either non-existent or only realized when management has no choice but to promote someone to fill a recently vacant position. It would also not be an exaggeration to say that upper management (with few exceptions) lives on a completely different planet from manager and lower level employees - often appearing out touch at all-employee meetings and misunderstanding the scalability of certain deliverables. Structural company changes (e.g. salary/compensation adjustments, team transfers, website marketing deprioritizations, career trajectories) are often introduced to unsuspecting associates and managers last minute, or even after the fact. Employees who are reluctant to adapt to these shifts are considered persona non grata, and will suffer the consequences during both mid year and annual reviews. Red Ventures continues to offer great opportunities for education, but is a dead end for career growth.
