- Micromanagement throughout the day, and general lack of trust on the smallest decisions critical to the role. Management had me filling out an excel sheet with my day to day down to how every 10 minutes was spent. Not sure if this lack of trust was due to being a remote worker or a junior role or age. Frequent random calls to make sure you're at your desk, if you're remote. - Ageist jokes; if you're under 30 beware! Every cultural reference, no matter how ubiquitous, will be followed by "but (your name) probably wouldn't know this one!!!!" Assumptions were often made about experience level due to age as well. - Working remotely after peak pandemic was frowned upon by middle management, lots of not so gentle nudging to come to the office. - Culture is pretty boomer. You'll see many "optional" social events in your inbox, but you won't hear the end of it if you don't attend or don't respond to the e-vite. If remote, you'll get asked to join the "optional" social call by management. - Been hearing of frequent lay offs on linked in recently (2023) due to market looking bad.
