Pros

Plenty of different opportunities within the company for advancement and lateral mobility. Many different lines of business to choose from; Banking, Investments, Mortgage, Trust, Commercial Lending, etc.

Cons

The downsides listed are not necessarily exclusive to Regions. I imagine the experience is very similar with other banks. Daily pressure to perform and sell a large array of financial products. A lot of regulations, rules, and changes to stay current with. Need to have a broad knowledge base along with excellent customer service skills. Constant distractions (ie: account issues, complaints, overdrafts, account fraud... Can be quite tedious at times and still involves way too much paperwork for the 21st century.

Pros

Three weeks of vacation after your first year of employment. Regions is a great place to work for working Moms. They are very good about allowing you to leave when you need, if you have finished your work. The benefits are as good as any comparable company in this area.

Cons

VERY "Corporate" atmosphere. Constantly, getting "Regions values" videos because the merger was such a mess that most employees aren't sure who they're reporting to. The merger took too long to straighten out, but the pieces are beginning to align. Also, if you aren't in a profit generating area, you'll probably be laid off at some point in the future or you're working with a bunch of lazy people that only care about getting off on time.

Pros

The benefits are nice. health dental and vision insurance. decent amount of vacation. you are pretty much left alone. everybody knows everybody, or just about everybody within your region. there are some really great people there as well.

Cons

rules change daily and without notice, and it's your responsibility to keep up with them. they can also arbitrarily enforce rules that used to exist that have been changed. after they change the rules it is your job to get yelled at by angry customers who don't like the new rules.
