Pros

Regions is non-discriminatory, has excellent vacation and holidays, and allows for personal and professional growth.

Cons

Compensation and communication seem to be a little lacking. Merit increases are on the low side.

Pros

Regions has more of a family atmosphere not only in the branches but even in the upper management and corporate level.

Cons

Initial training focuses on products and services but lacks training around day to day operations of the branch. That training does take place but mine happened about 5 months after my hire date and I was in my branch approximately 1 month after hire.

Post Amsouth Merger made for a very difficult environment

Pros

It seems like all commercial banks are the same, so, if you worked for one, you know what it's like. Other than size, I cant think of any significant difference between commercial banks today.

Cons

Amsouth take over made for a difficult environment outside of Birmingham. Narrow and unpredictable authority structure made lending and work outs extremely difficult. As of 2008, a time of crisis, that was likely the norm at most commercial banks.
