Pros

Startup. So if you like crowded floors, open space ""collaborative"", noisy environment, with the illusion you'll say something and people will listen, this is definitely for you.

Cons

Benefits suck. It is a total boys club. Have you heard of the silicon valley crisis regarding startups and the tech industry in general? Well, you don't have to go to the bay area to get a first hand experience. Remitly is the representation of frat/boys club startups in the pacific northwest. Forget about career advancement. Be ready for strategy changes every week.

Thank you for your feedback. While it is very painful for me to read, I care a lot about you and your experience at Remitly. I don’t want to build a boys club. Diversity in gender, race, religion, are both personal and company goals. Remitly takes this journey seriously and has proactively hired women into 44% of our engineering and technical roles over the past year. We will remain committed to this goal as we continue to grow. While we always test and try new tactics every week, our mission has and will always be the same, to tirelessly deliver on our promise to immigrants sending money across the world. Finally -- I would really value an in person conversation with you about these issues so I can fully understand your thoughts and make sure you are being heard. Can you email me / contact me directly so we can setup a time to speak?

Pros

Great opportunities to grow in your career. I love working for a startup that has nailed product market fit, and is in the process of scaling. Leadership is open to input. Team members are driven and talented. The new office is way quieter!

Cons

Moving as fast as we are some of the projects could be scoped better, but we are working on it.

Pros

The people at Remitly are smart, dedicated, genuinely care about each other and our customers, and believe in the common mission. Everyone is willing to roll up their sleeves for the larger goal, and everyone is invested in each others success. There's little to no friction between teams, everyone is eager to work together, but are also respectful and understanding of each other.

Cons

Remitly hasn't met an acronym that it doesn't like, and certain acronyms can mean multiple things across several teams. Efforts are being made to make the learning curve and the common vocabulary more accessible.

I’m glad that you’re finding that Remitly team members are “smart, dedicated, genuinely care about each other” – that’s our goal! As I hope you know, I care a ton about culture and always want to continually improve so if there is anything that we can do better then I’m always open to hearing it. TTYS* Matt *A little acronym joke here ;). You’re totally right … there are a lot of acronyms here … and it’s good feedback that we could improve the training and usage around these. I was actually just chatting with our HR team about how to teach these in a fun and engaging way during onboarding … hopefully it will help. Good feedback. Thanks!
