Pros

Lots of flexibility, great culture.

Cons

Can't really think of many. I wasn't there for long enough, unfortunately.

Pros

You get to work flexibily

Cons

Management is inexperienced and not open to feedback. Teams are micromanaged without intent. If you speak up you will get bullied into leaving. Your actual job performance means almost nothing in terms of promotion and opportunity.

Thank you for this review and your work at Remote, we also appreciate you sharing this as a current employee. Micromanagement and favoritism are counter to our values and should never happen here. If you feel comfortable kindly share this with us in our anonymous feedback process (important: this is an internal link only), we would absolutely look into this and try improve your experience as an employee. Remote cares deeply about belonging, diversity, inclusion and equity and we have been consistently creating learning and development material, to help our managers and all our Remoters grow and develop. We launched a Leadership Hub in the beginning of 2023, which you can find more insight on in our #announcements slack channel and we will be launching comprehensive People Leadership Training in Q1 2023 as well. Thank you again for sharing this with us.

Pros

- I like the values, particularly Kindness which I think is evident in the day-to-day interactions with employees. - Decent salary, benefits and stock options. - A lot of communication is done via Slack which means far fewer emails each day. - Asynchronous work is great! There's no pressure to be present all day from 9-5pm. Performance is measured on output - Excellent work-life balance - Seems like a solid company financially in that it is very well funded with a promising future. - Working fully remotely means I have the flexibility to choose where I work, and can try different countries/cities if i wish.

Cons

- Remote work can be a little lonely at times, but Remote has an allowance for employees to go to a co-working space if they wish. Therefore for those that want to do that, i imagine this definitely helps. - As it's a startup the company pivots quickly which means that priorities often change. Can be frustrating working on something and then later to have to abandon it. I think this is probably typical of a scaling company.
