Pros

Remote office Nice equipment Learning stipend

Cons

No training. The training you do receive is all self taught. You read most of it and there are huge chunks of context missing from it. You’re told to not ask questions because they expect you to research through their dozens of slack channels or endless Notion platform for key words to find what you need to know. Yet everything is outdated and because things change on the fly, it’s rarely accurate. Ramp up (onboarding) period is supposed to be 90 days, but you’re given less than 14 working days before they expect you to take on projects and work with clients and know everything. You’re left to your own devices. They say you have a flexible schedule and you make your own hours. But I’ve experienced 12hour days off the bat, people notifying they are going on PTO but that they’ll be checking in a few times a day, or they’ll be responding while they are out. There is no work life balance. Benefits are not aligned with the industry and are very expensive with not the best coverage. Don’t express at anytime that you’re overwhelmed or lost and need guidance because all you’ll get is a “yeah that’s how we all feel. It’s the job. It’s what we signed up for. But it’s a great company so we deal with it.”

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad you value working remotely, the equipment provided, and the opportunity to use a learning stipend. We also hear the concerns you raise around onboarding, training, workload, and benefits. At Remote, we want every new joiner to feel set up for success, so we’re continuing to invest in improving our onboarding process and making information easier to access and up to date. We take work–life balance seriously, and the situations you describe are not the norm here. Flexibility is meant to support balance, not lead to long hours or blurred boundaries. We know feedback like this comes from wanting the company to do better, and we encourage anyone who feels overwhelmed or under-supported to raise it with their manager or our People team so we can address it directly.

Pros

Remote has an excellent product. With all the drama going on with Deel and Rippling, they are in a great position to take significant market share.

Cons

The sales and marketing leadership is significantly lacking. The company let go of their CRO and CMO, and didn't bother to replace either. Instead, the co-founder is moonlighting as CRO, despite clearly not being a good fit for the role. It's sad to see a company that could be so much more successful, squander such a huge opportunity. The marketing is non-existent in the US, with a very low flow of inbound leads. The quotas are mostly unattainable, with about a 20% attainment rate in the US as well. Seems like this company decided that the European market is the only one they care about, and have missed out on a significant opportunity in the US.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We’re glad you recognize the strength of Remote’s product and the opportunity we have in the market. We hear your concerns about sales and marketing. Leadership transitions are part of growth, but our core priorities stay the same and we continue to put our energy into excelling at them. We recognize that change can feel disruptive at times, and transparency in how and why decisions are made is an area where we are working to improve. The US is a critical market for Remote, and we are investing significantly into expanding our presence and accelerating growth here. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us continue to raise the bar, and we look forward to building an even stronger Remote together.
