Pros

ICU's on first day, there are a lot of good nurses to work with, rarely see supervisors out on the floors and units, Great culture concept, Great advertised benefits like 401k matching (after 1st year), Daycare (waitlist and on days only),

Cons

Low Pay, Heavy Workloads, Crisis Staffing Daily, No quality assurance - Therapists do no work, and no one checks up on them - People quit a lot. There's no confidentiality with supervisors - your business will be public in minutes because they gossip with their friends who are not supervisors. Very young staff, most have 2-3 years experience or less. Renown charges employees over $200 per pay period for health insurance and they are they provider. TOO EXPENSIVE and low quality.

Pros

Before Renown was Renown, the Washoe Health System was an excellent workplace. The leaders listened to employee feedback and were responsive. Administration cared about those who worked for them. There was an open door policy with supervisors and our director. Our corporate culture promoted an open honest atmosphere, respect, care, and concern for our patients and each other. It was a 'kinder, gentler' workplace.

Cons

Just before the re-branding, it became a place where you had to be careful of everything you said, and were always looking over your shoulder wondering if your job would be the next to be eliminated. then they started these required gatherings to celebrate every new thing they were promoting. I remember thinking in the midst of these celebrations, the emperor had no clothes. The supervisors were only interested to promote the new agenda. Those 'happy- happy' parties where we played games and were given promotional toys were a waste of time and keeping us from our work. The leaders/supervisors weren't interested in feedback, even when it was constructive. The substance of our jobs, and training took second place to as others have put it, 'drinking the Kool-Aide'. I had worked there for 33 years with positive evaluations, and was open to change; I had seen a lot of it in my 33 years there; we transitioned from a county to a not-for-profit facility . My position was one of those eliminated, and while I didn't take it personally, there was very little concern on the part of Human Resources. They never talked about other options (I had applied for other open positions I was qualified for), or treated me as a retiree. (I was 60 years old), but they did ask for an exit interview!!! Several of us met the same fate, so the only conclusion I can draw is that they wanted to cut clerical staff (ancillary staff always seems to be dispensable) and those long-time and higher paid employees.
