Pros

Captivated market share that cushions inaction.

Cons

All talk and little substance. Upper management comes up with, are susceptible to, or encourage, weekly gimmicks in marketing to the public. The sad part is employees are also being fed daily marketing gimmicks with no content--neophyte business mistakes. Employees can see through the empty eyewash. A systemic problem exists in any organization that leadership rewards do-nothing ladder-climbers who make sure they don't take risks and sacrifice progress. The organizational culture needs to change toward brave leadership in order to make real progress. Renown is becoming renown for being all talk and marketing gimmicks over real content and leadership.

Pros

I liked the liberal policy on hair color, that was refreshing. The main hospital building is a lovely building. They are very involved in the parts of the community that make them look good.

Cons

At the end of the day, you are a resource. If they can no longer use you for their bottom line, they will find a way to restructure you out. They closed skilled nursing in 2018 because it was not making enough money, and re homed to other facilities in the are nearly 60 seniors with no place else to go. I wonder who got paid for that bright idea. In early '19, they changed or cancelled several travel nursing contracts and laid off some 60 mid level managers and "non clinical" staff, including the lady who ran the flower and gift shop in the main hospital. At least a third of nursing staff in the main hospital at any given time are travel nurses. They talk a good talk about values and higher purposes, walking the walk though, not as much as you'd like.
