Worst place I've ever worked

Pros

I have nothing good to say, no positive experiences here

Cons

Another cashier in the Sierra Cafe left a review here of the experience, so I thought I should share mine also. I was a cashier in Renowns cafeteria, you would'nt think being a cashier could be such a bad job, make a living while I finish school, oh was I ever wrong. It was hands down the worst place I have ever worked. The work environment inside is pure toxic, so much drama and hatefulness in there, you almost cant believe this is in a hospital with so much unprofessional behavior. The management bullies people and are very unqualified to lead anyone, lazy and disconnected from day to day operations. Even worse some are given the title of lead, while working there we were bullied by leads everyday. We were not allowed to speak up or defend ourselves, management allowed this behavior. Management treats people terrible, a few employees I know of went to HR to complain about the way they are treated and the condition of our department, no results, managers can do know wrong in the eyes of HR no matter how many employees complain. Alot of people quit this year we just could'nt go to work in that hostile environment everyday, it makes you sick. Myself and the others who quit were good people, we were there to work and care for customers, we were pushed out by the harsh bullies and those bullies are all still there, still mistreating people and making drama, and management is right there in the middle of all that drama keeping it going. What a sick place to work, I cant beleive it can really be that way in a hospital.

Pros

Good teamwork. Everyone sticks together when times are tough. Great opportunity for new grad training.

Cons

Low pay. Minimal yearly raises. High turnover. Very fresh nurses working in critical areas. Renown needs to care for their staff or they will continue to lose everyone they hire once they gain experience.

A great place for great people to be unappreciated.

Pros

Renown is a great place to gain experience if you are new in a career field. The lower level managers are competent and care about their employees. The insurance is decent (but could be better/cheaper considering they are RENOWN?!).

Cons

Upper management has unrealistic expectations of their underlings. They are understaffed and expect their salaried employees to put in ridiculous hours for a company that does not care about them. Despite working in the medical field employees are encouraged to show up to work sick. The policies regarding sick time basically guarantee this. The pay scale is greatly skewed in favour of upper management and there is zero room for negotiation.
