      Don't drink the Purple Cool-Aid

      Passionate co workers who give everything to assure patients are taken care of.

      When you are first hired you are inundated with how wonderful Renown is and you feel optimistic but the reality of working for this company is much darker. Everywhere I worked we were short staffed. In the back of my mind red flags were going off but it couldn't really be that bad could it? I was repeatedly put into workdays that were 13 hours or more with no breaks and no lunches. There was no time we were too overwhelmed we could barely use the restroom if we were lucky. When I first addressed this to management they stated "That is just how it is." There is no work life balance I barely saw my family. When I finally got firm about these Nevada Labor Law violations is when they started to panic and scramble to get me to human resources. I could see that this is indeed "Just the way it is" and resigned. If you are being hired as a Medical Assistant be aware that the amount of work you will be required to do is absolutely insane for the very low pay they give you. Be aware that Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners are provided an appropriate salary for the long hours they endure but as a Medical Assistant they will absolutely bleed your soul dry without a second thought. I was also and exempt employee so I didn't qualify for overtime but my supervisor stated she had no problem working me into overtime. Excuse me?

      A very sick work environment

      I have a job and food to eat in the midst of all the suffering the job causes

      Cons

      I f you don't mind being treated like dirt, le me rephrase that, be treated like dirt while working really hard, then this is where you should be. I f you take pride in your work and expect a little bit of ethical treatment then stay away. There is so much drama and politics I cant even keep up with it. Managers have their favorites everyone else is treated poor, I don't want to work here anymore its a sick place.

      They are so desperate for nurses anyone can work here

      Cons

      I dont know how this company got so messed up, it is not a place where you can make a lifetime career, Im sorry its just not. The stress and workload here is higher for RN than other hospitals and they pay less money. Most of the nursing staff are newgrads and travelers that will not be around long. Turnover is very high and there is very little stability, management is not good, they have never made me feel that they care about the employees, it seems everyone is just here to get money then leave, a revolving door
