Pros

It’s a start up in the restaurant tech industry lots of potential

Cons

Management didn’t know what worked vs what didn’t and didn’t bother waiting for results. Had people doing outside sales that weren’t outside sales trained.

ResQ Response

Dear former ResQer, We appreciate the time you took to leave a review about your experience working at ResQ. We know that feedback takes courage and know that it is welcomed as it helps us learn and improve! To your point, the original job requirement, and expectations set with candidates, for the Toronto-based Marketplace Launchers required them to travel to the city where the launch was happening. However, we hear you about it being less than ideal in a pandemic. Based on that learning, we’ve recently changed to hire short-term localized support in order to reduce large travel territories for our team. We’ve also brought in new leadership and training for both People Managers and the Sales team and are excited to make a continuous investment in management’s development! Thank you again for taking the time to respond. We hear you!

Learning Opportunities, But Not for Everyone

Pros

Solid benefits package and opportunities to learn at a fast-paced startup. The ship is tight, so you have opportunities to see and do a lot, if you take the initiative.

Cons

In my ~2.5 years at ResQ, I saw 7 executives and several directors leave the company - voluntarily and involuntarily. In addition, the company went through two major layoffs since raising their series A in 2021. Having worked at other startups, I expected turnover and constant shifts in priorities, but all the major changes in leadership and layoffs destroyed morale and left people confused about company direction. ResQ has a hybrid work environment with an office in Toronto, yet some of the team, including members of leadership, were based out of the US, so a lot of virtual collaboration was required even during office days. The hybrid policy was not strictly enforced, and so an office that could fit ~100 employees often only had just a fraction of that come in on a "mandatory" day. In-office days did not achieve the enhanced collaboration it was intended for because of this.

Work here while looking for something better

Pros

Nice office and non management staff are good people

Cons

They are a glorified booking agency for resteraunt repairs. They are not in an industry nor do they have a product that can reliably scale. Hence, why every year they panic and have mass layoffs and probably promise investors they will make it all better. As long as the end users of this ‘highly innovative’ tech product are plumbers and pretzel shop managers they will need teams of people making calls and emails all day to make $50 here or $70 there. In some case $0 dollars
