Pros

Looking forward to 5PM everyday, no more blitzes,one-on-ones, or useless micromanagement meetings. Didn't have to waste 2 weeks of my life attending "Sales 101 for dummies".

Cons

Micromanagement, Micromanagement, and more micromanagement. WAY too many meetings, favoritism, and office paperwork. Management says one thing and does another. One week they are your friend, the next they stab you in the back. Turnover is TERRIBLE. CRM "Sales Force" is useless because the turnover is so bad, it never gets updated enough to be useful. You spend horus and hours in meetings day in and day out, but at the same time they want you in the field in front of customers? Dont see how that makes any sense. Very contradictory. This is not inside sales, its "how to have a meeting" sales. Expect you to purchase useless sales books, and then you dont get reimbursed for it. Company car allowance and base pay is a joke. Most cases you are expected to sell a brand new machine, and the commission for all that paperwork and multiple customer visits is around $130 (before taxes).

Pros

Ricoh is a leader in the office technology area, especially on the equipment side. They are striving to move more into the Managed Print Services arena, but it is a fledgling effort at this point.

Cons

With the purchase of IKON, Ricoh now has to merge together the RBS operation and IKON into a single direct sales organization. It will be bloody as they eliminate duplicate positions, and the RBS and IKON groups loathe each other after years of undercutting each other in the field. My guess is that IKON will end up driving the bus, so the comapny will be undergoing another change in management like they did when they acquired Lanier. The philosophy seems to be - "buy the company and put their people in charge".
