Engaging work, brilliant people, volatile CEO/Founder
Pros
It is wonderful to be working on such a meaningful project side by side with a world-class group of scientists and engineers, most of whom are kind and warm people as well. We are making meaningful progress toward our goal of bringing quantum computing to the world at scale.
Cons
While the CEO is certainly smart and driven, he is prone to extremely angry and unprofessional outbursts and no one is safe from them. Yelling, table-pounding, cursing, accusations, etc...all directed at whichever employee is the object of his rage at that particular moment. Employees seem to just cower in fear, most not wanting to incur his wrath. Employees talk about this a lot in private moments and it seems to be happening to nearly everyone at all levels and in all types of roles. There has also been a recent round of terminations of without much explanation, other than the typical corporate vagaries, and the rumors are running rampant. The firings seem to have focused mainly on employees at the higher end of the age spectrum.
