Pros

Mid-day off Chance to build great partnerships with the community Chances for growth Work life balance is as you choose, but can sometimes push the borders if you are looking to make a real impact.

Cons

Liability Nightmare if you work with students with extra needs Not a job to stay in long term, Responsibility Creep will happen Feels like the company prefers to save a buck understaffing or staffing to the very minimum rather and deal with extreme turnover rather than give additional support to sites that need it. They do not vet students. One could join with an IEP but since we are a third party we are not allowed to have that information and it ends up adding to that liability nightmare. Curriculum does change but doesn’t adapt for regions like Washington where things like Balloons are to be used a little as possible. You will never get full time. Which then adds to the stress when you are there to get things done. This is especially painful when you are sent to other places to also help cover. Students are only given support once they have enough problems to be seen as someone that needs it.

We love to hear that you find the schedule beneficial and that you enjoy building relationships with the community! Our students and families are the most important part of the RAS community! I also understand that you have concerns about the appropriate staff to ensure support for all students. Don't Work With These Liars

Pros

the kids were sweet and some of the coworkers

Cons

They hired under the pretense that we would be working 6-7 hours a day and they changed that to 2.5-3.5 hours a day. They had no care about the employees and would always remind workers that they were replaceable and would threaten to cut even more hours if things didn't go their way. All of the employees had an issue with the management because they too were all hired thinking they would get around 30-35 hours a week but instead were getting 10-15 hours. Grown adults can't live off of 10 hours. Even if they claim to pay in a competitive rate, it doesn't matter if you are working less than expected. They offered only full-time to 2 workers who literally never actively engaged with the students or parents, but since they were close to the am, they had the perks of getting more hours. All in all, if you want to get treated like s*** by the am, always get moved around from class to class, do more than you are paid to do, get barked at by the am for not making her job easier, and make only $15,000 a year, this is definitely the place for you! They want you to be more "involved" with the kids and expect you to create activities and games for the kids all within the 3 hours of work they provide. If you want the kids to have actual thoroughly thought out planners with activities and what not, have the educators come in an hour or two earlier to prepare and have it all ready. It's a mess.
