Pros

I can tell others that I work for the Ritz-Carlton, which is for sure a leading luxury hospitality company. Ritz Carlton claim some top of the cooks, I am proud of that. However the cons are much more degrading then the Pros

Cons

Working for this particular management is extremely negative. Discipline is comprised of unprofessional language and yelling, theres no sense of well being to any of the culinary team, as we are never commended for out output. Everything is far too unorganized, I can understand that I work at a new property and these are considered growing pains. However Ive never formally been trained, only been thrown on a new station and expected to perform, if not a write up will occur. That to me is very unwelcoming and im sure others wouldnt mind this, but it makes the job unpleasant.

Pros

Learning the art of opperations excellence in a Luxury environment. The credo instils a way of thought that allows for intuitive development of behavioural patterns toward any situation, problem resolution, attention to detail, safety, excellence in work habits and ethics. Much of the above said is also valid for Marriott Managed Hotels.

Cons

In my experience and opinion the corporate, above property team with Ritz Carlton is very weak. I experienced a lack of sharing of best practices experienced within a region. A sense of "Imperialism" amongst some that didi not foster a positive working relationship. The brand also appears to be weak in the area of financial cost control, synonimous with luxury you may say, but essential in this world and in the back of house there is plenty room to improve. With Marriott I only had EXCELLENT experiences all round, including the above property management.
