Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry you did not have a positive experience at Rokt. We know we don’t get everything right - we absolutely recognize we have room for improvement. We also recognize that Rokt is not for everyone - it can be challenging and can involve learning at a much faster pace than some are comfortable with. As you well point out, our team is our biggest asset - the people that work at Rokt are indeed enjoyable and very bright. We are proud of the culture we have built and we understand it is best built in partnership with our team of Rokt’stars to ensure we are all always improving. We appreciate your feedback and wish the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Pros

- Good compensation package, snacks, smart coworkers, travel opportunity, interesting projects

Cons

- not remote friendly, no work life balance - management is extremely toxic - fire and hire culture, management announces to company that 20% of staff WILL underperform (basically mean just get ready to be fired) - IPO is no longer worth it for new starters.

Pros

This has been echoed many times in the rest of the reviews but bears repeating - one of the biggest draws to Rokt is (most of) the people. Smart, competent, creative, passionate. A generous tech and learning budget - nothing catty to say here. Genuinely appreciated this. If only the rest of my review could be as positive…but alas. Catered lunches were definitely a big draw and for as much as they could prioritize sustainability, they did. End of Quarter celebrations can be a lot of fun. An opportunity to work and learn alongside your far flung coworkers in an exotic location. However….This could also be perceived as a con as Rokt expected their people to celebrate the fact they’d be dragged across the world for a week from an exotic locations (usually a location close to or in Australia).

Cons

What can I say here that hasn’t already been said by others…yes, there is tacit favoritism towards Australians. While I was there, it seemed they would hire and fly over Aussies (chained to a visa) to fill roles over the very qualified and diverse pool of candidates NY has to offer. The impression I had leaving Rokt is that they want the panache of being a disruptive mover and shaker in New York but with an Australian flair…which sounds like a fun sentiment from the outside looking in, but in reality it was demoralizing as an American working there. Management….where to begin. Every department, for the most part, bears witness to leadership's poor choice in promotion. There were days when I saw certain support teams just laugh at each other so they wouldn’t cry. If you’re Australian, you’re more likely stratify quicker than the American employees. Leadership: CEO and CCO think they’re akin to Pierre and Marie Curie when they’re actually more like Adam and Rebekah Neumann. Both believe they are far more magnanimous than they actually are, with little to no self-awareness. In one cringe-inducing instance during an all-hands meeting, with the entire company present on a video call, the CEO argued the efficacy of Slack vs GChat with an engineer in a very visible forum. Said engineer left not too long after. It was quite sobering to watch a passive aggressive conversation visibly devolve over chat between a CEO and an employee. Office Culture: When you come to Rokt, you’re expected to go above and beyond, which is pretty standard for a company Rokt’s size, but what that actually translated to is they expect your butt in your seat from 8:30am to 7pm, sometimes later…because you will be working with international teams. Again, part and parcel of the job, but without flexible work options, you'll wind up dispirited, exhausted, and apathetic.

We thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your time at Rokt and understand that Rokt is not for everyone - especially for those who fall short of the performance requirements. The experience of our Rokt’stars is very important to us, and our recent employee survey tells us that the majority of the team are thriving - with 85% of our people telling us that Rokt is a great place to work. In addition, we were also just awarded the listing of Great Place to Work NYC 2020. We are perplexed to hear you believe there is favoritism influencing decisions. While we certainly do have Australians in our NY office, our teams around the world are very diverse - we have more than 25 nationalities represented across our 250 Rokt’stars. As you might recall, we have a very strong internal referral program for new hires, this means we often recruit new team members from the networks of current employees and we find this is a powerful and effective way to source great talent. This can influence the countries these new Rokt’stars join us from as we were originally founded in Australia, and Sydney is still the largest office we have (NYC is quickly catching up though!). We know we’re not perfect in ensuring we are as diverse in all measures as we would sincerely like to be, but we’re committed to continuing to drive diversity in all locations and at all levels, and have established an Equality Diversity & Inclusion Committee to focus on important work in this space. As a hyper-fast-growing company, there are always new career opportunities for our team members - working on new projects, taking on different challenges, and moving into leadership roles. We take great pride in the fact that our Rokt’stars are accelerating their careers with us and we have development initiatives in place to support that, such as management training and a generous annual training allowance available to all employees. We also run management effectiveness surveys to gather feedback and identify ways we can improve. More recently, we have built out our People Team, to ensure leaders are getting ongoing and regular support day to day, in addition to these more structured programs. And as for our culture, you’re right that we work incredibly hard to deliver for our customers - but not at the cost of our employees’ wellbeing. We have a generous PTO policy, and lots of other wellbeing benefits that demonstrate how important it is that we Enjoy the Ride. We have a very transparent culture at Rokt - including on performance, compensation and differences of opinion. We respect different opinions and encourage open debate - this can sometimes be confronting. Again, sorry to hear that you haven’t had the Rokt’star experience we strive to deliver for all of our employees. We appreciate your feedback and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
