      A good secure job in a successfull engineering company

      Pros

      Job security, good pension scheme (if you are on the old final salary scheme). Plenty of opportunities for advancement and global opportunities if you want them. If you are interested in engineering then it is a fascinating product (aero engines of course, not cars) and something you can feel really proud of.

      Cons

      I don't think the organisation actually cares about you in spite of all the good words. When it comes down to it employees are just a commodity. Management pay freezes and unilataral changes to T's and C's are examples. It is getting more cut throat than it used to be with many fringe benefits being reduced or eliminated.

      Working for Rolls Royce - Engineering Management

      Pros

      Excellent for having time off, a keen supporter of developing people within the company. Generally pay is pretty good and is inline with the industry standard. Great to see the big engines after development.

      Cons

      Cost cutting measures have placed more pressures on individual staff and therefore stress can be high in certain areas. Due to the nature of the work it can be slow paced and full of red tape.

      Llimited opportunities for advancement when I worked there, but that was a long time ago (20 yrs), thing may be different now
