Growing pains for a medium sized company

Free Parking downtown Free lunch (when in the office)

Cons

Some of the original employees can't move on to their new roles. Pay scales are all over and not balanced. Some people get bonuses, some don't. I asked for a performance bonus mixed with my salary and was told" Root doesn't do bonuses" If you don't want to work 15 hour days, you will be frowned upon.

Pros

I had a great couple of years at Root, huge tech stack with a ton of engineers to learn from. They encourage people to move around to different teams after a while.

Cons

Very strict guidelines for promotion, no bonuses.

Pros

— there’s some great people — lots of team members feel comfortable starting and then resigning within a few weeks and if not, a few months — there’s a gym at the office while we all work from home — there’s free downtown parking at the office while we all work from home — management has talking points for retention issue & low stock price — there’s still little structure and still lots of ambiguity since we have very few team members that have been at Root for 2+ year

Cons

— there’s a lot bad management — lots of team members resign within a few months of their hire date — hires for new teams with limited idea on their role — no professional development — no salary standardization after going public in 2020 — our retention issue has not been addressed — our low stock price has not been addressed — growth opportunities depend on what manager you’re under — limited to no diversity in the company — very few team members have been at Root for 2+ year
