Toxic work environment

Pros

Comeptitive compensation is the only pro

Cons

This was an extremely toxic work environment where I felt belittled and demeaned. I was micro managed and had no decision making power even though I had previous outside Ross retail experience. Upper management has unrealistic expectations and poor communication skills. Systems and thought processes are out dated and ancient. Feedback is not welcome, instead you are encouraged to “Ross-size” and mold to a certain way of thinking. I do not recommend working here.

Pros

Strong financial position to weather through the pandemic, office closure at the end of the year, summer Friday’s, competitive bonus structure and great insurance options.

Cons

Company is solely focused on bottom line. As some reviews have stated, the company is now urging everyone to go back to the office beginning of July and attend vendor appointments and “important” meetings. There is a complete lack of concern for the health and well being of its employees. When asked if vendor appointments were optional, the company said “no”. They have also said that we should be competitive shopping just as we were pre covid. It is their expectation. Have they realized that nothing is back to normal? The company has always prided itself on being conservative, but this is the most aggressive action that has ever been taken. No one wants to go back to the office and meet people face to face! We have found some inner peace working remotely and a healthier work/life balance (even though we are all working 10-12 hour days still). Do not make us good back in the middle of a pandemic when cases are still rising throughout the country.

Pros

Vacation and sick time, medical and dental, reputation in the market.

Cons

Since Covid, and working from home, I think we have been able to have a great work life balance. However, upper management feels that we need to go back to the office to get our jobs done, which is totally false. Most of us at the LABO feel this way, working from home has given us the autonomy and flexibility that we have been hoping for, and we are getting more work done, and becoming more productive on all levels. I think that management needs to have more trust in their employees, and stop micromanaging!
