Pros

There isn’t much. Compensation. Benefits.

Cons

Work life balance- you are the only salaried manager in the building so anything that doesn’t get done- which will be a lot due to the terrible payroll model, will fall on you. I spent a ton of time on the register and completing recovery due to not having enough payroll to properly staff the store. All Ross stores are an absolute mess. Hours of operation are terrible- most Ross stores open significantly earlier and stay open later than the competition. During the holiday season you will be open until TWO in the morning. No one shops at Ross at two in the morning. Most Ross stores are in lower income neighborhoods so safety was a huge concern too. Favoritism is incredibly prevalent, especially in the Chicago market. You’ll only get promoted if you’re in with the District Managers and Zone Managers- no matter how hard you’ve worked and the results you’ve had over the years.

They will work you into the ground. - Nonsensical processes which are incredibly time consuming and serve no purpose. - huge turnover. It is a revolving door. Yet, management will always blame the former employee. For a company that emphasizes on humility, Ross refuses to acknowledge its contribution. - clique. Really good dedicated employees have been written up because they are not liked by their managers or their bosses.

Thank your feedback. We’re happy that you enjoyed some of the great perks in our NY Buying Office, like Summer Fridays and free food. However, we do want to address your comments about management and work-life balance. We never want our Associates to feel overworked or overly stressed at work. Your wellbeing is important to us and we work hard to create a work life balance for all of our Associates. This has been a focus for us and we want to ensure you that we are continuing to find new ways for managers to exemplify this as well. If you would like to provide us with more detail into what you have experienced or witnessed, please contact us at customer.service@ros.com.

Pros

Co workers had great personalities.

Cons

You literally are not allowed to do the job you are hired for. They make you state some ridiculous job duty thing everyday and make you stay at the front of the store. Oh and they require management to report employees for anything. Ross prefers to fire their employees rather than prosecuting a customer for theft.
