No work/life balance at corporate

Pros

Good location, fun team events (very rarely), some recognition.

Cons

Absolutely no work/life balance. Managers are expected to work 60hrs/wk. Benefits are minimal and expensive for this size company. Anything below manager, pay is lower in comparison to the same positions in the area. Corporate has lots of politics, mostly hires from the outside, and general unwritten rule for associate level (below mgr) is you have to be with the company for 5 years to get some kind of promotion. Generally, people are overworked and unhappy. Even most loyal people with 10+ years of experience are leaving.

Toxic workplace

Pros

Good people work here Employee discount is good Bonuses are decent

Cons

Directors and above only care about CYA. They make fake promises, thank publicly then dig into you for any little thing to make themselves look better. Highly competitive, but in a mean and putting others down kind of way. You cannot trust anyone you work with because they will take any opportunity to make you look bad. VPs are worse! They’re rude, only focus on themselves, and will only like you if you kiss their butt. There’s no respect for work life balance, expect you to be available day, night, weekends, anytime. They will lie and cheat to get results and if you’re not willing to do that then be prepared to be pushed out or get tough visits. Don’t expect any development or growth opportunities unless you’re willing to do whatever they ask for, ethical or otherwise. What you do is never good enough and they let you know that. They micromanage because they lack trust and are very insecure about their own lack of leadership. The list goes on and on. All the elements that make up a toxic work environment happen here and the company protects those toxic leaders up top. They advocate loss prevention to fire people even if they’re not trained because they only care about their stats.
