Pros

Rotary has an incredible mission and Rotarians do amazing work domestically and internationally. The company has great benefits, many of the employees have had unique and incredible careers that you can learn from. When I worked there was a ton of different clubs to get involved in and people were generally friendly to newcomers. This position did not but several others had travel opportunities for their role.

Cons

Managers have no training when they do move up after being there a certain number of years. Takes time to move up, definitely don't expect it within a year, or two years - if you're lucky. A lot of the departments are very set in their ways and since it's a large organization there are a ton of unnecessary meetings and red tape to move forward. There are very few women on the Board even though the majority of their staff are women. Also, HR doesn't have your back when you have issues.

Pros

Great benefits. Great mission.

Cons

Really bad people working there who don't belong in a not for profit. Overworked employees in some areas. Managers leaving at 4pm while their employees work sometime till 6pm. In some departments, mobbing rules.

Pros

> Fun, friendly, engaged, and intelligent coworkers > Financially thriving > Strong organizational mission > Positive global impact > Organization-wide staff survey conducted in 2014 to assess employee morale and change readiness, with concrete response plans to address unmet KPIs

Cons

> Challenging volunteer/ staff dynamic > Toxic and complex internal political culture > Poor training/ knowledge transmission and high turnover rate in key areas > Little room for advancement. Employees must leave to advance. > Advanced degrees required for promotion but tuition reimbursement almost nonexistent > "We've always done it this way" mentality that makes implementing necessary change difficult > Staffing levels so far past lean they're anorexic. Work/life balance is a joke. > Implementation of response plans created to address terrible employee morale reported in 2014 organization-wide survey unenforced and widely not followed > Senior volunteer leadership makes unpopular policy changes and makes staff their scapegoat
