Not for Leaders

Pros

Decent benefits. Still a few good people left but, they are dropping fast.

Cons

Eighty plus hours at work a week, then continue to work even after you're home. Your off days are not yours, be prepared for non stop calls, text, and emails, even when there is no production. Upper management preaches respect and taking care of employees, while they treat you like a piece of rotted meat and treat their front-line supervisors like pawns on a chess board. Upper management talks about how stupid their front-line supervisors are when in fact those very supervisors are the ones who are the most knowledgeable about the operation. No matter how hard you work, and produce, they will continually add more and more tasks for you to complete and chastise you if you are unable to complete within their ridiculous time frame. Not for experienced managers, especially if you are a strong leader. If you like being manically micromanaged, ridiculed and chastised, without being supported or trained, this is the company for you!

Pros

Limited discretion implement things at your branch with regards to marketing, promotions, flyers, and how to manage customer complaints & how you manged your assets (your fleet). A decent overall blend of business acumen to use as stepping stone Free work boots & a Trip to Miami for a training class (Although the knowledge gained from that is essentially useless)

Cons

Limited upward mobility (unless you are EXTREMELY relocatable) No tuition reimbursement Horrible healthcare. Horrible culture and work environment where people just gossip and constantly put people down. Even high up managers. Complete garbage. People will smear your image to cover up their misdoings. Massive turnover... in a 1.5 years just at MY branch(3 service managers, 3 shop supervisors, 4 fuel island techs,6 diesel techs, 1 Business Development Manager, & 1 Rental Sales Rep.) Upward mobility only includes a RAM role (Rental Account Manager) a LRM (Location Rental Manager) position is an essential unicorn position that makes just as much as an RMT when include OT. Will expect you to cover all locations in your region with limited notice... places being 1.5hrs away sometimes...may or may not dependent on your manager get reimbursement for milage/tolls. As an RMT you get OT as an exempt employee... but it is “Chinese” OT where you make half time (yes .5) instead of 1.5 OT... yes you will work more than 40hrs a week. Most Ryder locations even if worked to a absolute spot on opening/closing times are open 45-50 hrs a week. Ryder stock is absolutely plummeting $40.12/share (2/14/2020) Disorganization top to bottom with trucks being transported, things being randomly moved & transferred overnight. Random returns from random states. Trucks that overdue for service being handed out overnight with NO CONTRACT...your full service shop behind has little incentive to ever fix trucks you need & will be the make or break of your entire experience. AS400 yes a green screen is FIS... your main access point for transactions, customer accounts, billing reports, etc. the most important & main system is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE WW2 BATTLESHIP ESQUE. No “team” outings or fun events or culture or anything.

Pros

when first arrived had a fun environment with knowledgeable personnel. The promise of growth and wage increase is made.

Cons

Personnel, with experience left and new hires or promoted works are lacking experience and knowledge. Management doesn't care about quality off work or results. Expect high production of WO's and look to blame when things go wrong. QC is not big thing they teach or expect. numbers numbers numbers!! like to throw new hires in without proper training. when they try to learn it properly they are told to stay in their lane
