S1 worked its people pretty hard, as it was still kind of in that startup mindset, but it had entered that lumbering enterprise part of their lifecycle. This meant people worked long hours, after hours, on vacation, etc, but had few of the perks that a true startup might offer

Senior management decision making process was often unclear. Little unity or cohesiveness across geographic locations. Best practices dictated from central office with little or no collaboration.
