Pros

Awesome co-workers, great energy and commitment. My supervisor was caring and always making sure we had all that we needed. The organization is new but they do place a premium on treating each person as an individual. The work is challenging as all kids come with different problems. off site management was responsive but we never got to see them. It was a great introduction to working with urban youth on my way medical school. The skills I developed with my students helped me greatly on my interviews.

Cons

The stress associated with working with urban youth and economically depressed areas, sometimes it is hard not to take worries home. we only had one period to prepare so we were tutoring 7 periods a day.

Pros

Great opportunity to make a difference in a young person's life.

Cons

Pay is minimum wage and company does not pay for days that school is not in session. This makes living off of low wages even harder. Virtually no time for planning during the day even though lesson planning and parent calls are mandatory. I ended up doing a lot of work at home. Company does not pay for overtime. Management tells you not to work after hours but penalizes you if you don't make parent calls and produce lesson plans.

Pros

Great Site Directors. Support from team and upper management is good. Great job to have for a year if you enjoy education and HS students.

Cons

Pay is 18k before taxes which comes out roughly 700-800 a every two week. No paid when students arent in school i.e holidays & breaks.
