Pros

The business still has great people Not the worst benefits

Cons

To work in IT sucks there - with many transformations that the IT organization went through in the last 5-6 years, the employee's are heavily overworked and training is not guaranteed, constant finger-pointing and power fights in leadership - the folks in the leadership levels have no trust from the levels below - they are bleeding a lot of talent in the last 6 month and I feel bad for the folks that have to fight the mess as leadership rather thinks some consultant can easily solve it. Investment in folks is super hard to get approved by senior leadership - In-fighting inside the towers in the IT world makes every simple thing twice as hard.

Pros

The pay is about the only thing that is good anymore at SCJ.

Cons

LEAN!!! Upper Mgmt. in Racine making decisions for parts of the business that has no idea what the "factory" world really has to deal with. Benefit deductibles are outrageous. Work life balance if you are in Racine are good, but other places, not so much. If you are in Racine, you get a lot of time off, you have your own Scj Bank, work out center, child care and from what I hear quite a bit more.

A most peculiar family company

Pros

Relatively high salaries in a low-cost-of-living area of the country. Some good benefits such as a fitness center and child care (company store, too). Great people at the managerial level. Made many great friends working here. Products are well made and positively perceived, so business is unlikely to tank anytime soon.

Cons

Senior management is consumed by sucking up to the CEO. Fisk Johnson is a poor manager and will not take advice. Always looking at other companies for innovative ideas - particularly Procter. Power concentrated in the hands of a few CEO cronies. Super passive-aggressive. Culture is not in line with "family company" image.

Thanks for your comments. We respectfully disagree with some of your conclusions, but we want to continually learn and grow as an organization, and that includes considering to all perspectives. We’ll share your thoughts with the right folks. One thing we can agree on: there are many, many great people at SCJ. We’re glad you saw that too, and sorry to hear that your overall experience here wasn’t ideal.
