Pros

You can learn IT sales and possibly move into another role if you can survive for a year. There's a lot of free lunches and the work facilities are nice. There's also a lot of emphasis on rewarding the top performers and giving them credit for their success. They're fast growing and still have a lot of room to grow.

Cons

It's like working in a giant fraternity house. For some, that may be awesome, but it doesn't give you a good foundation for what work will be like outside of SHI in a more professional environment. Its really noisy on the floor when you're trying to make calls that sometimes customers can hear the yelling and music which is pretty unprofessional and disruptive when you're trying to put your best foot forward with a customer. If you say something about the noise you will be bullied by the people that like to make the noise. If you have an MBA or any other formal business training, run for the hills unless you can't find another job. Your talents will likely be wasted your first year making cold calls and working LONG hours doing mindless prospecting and sending blanket emails in hopes of making more than $35,000 per year. They're growing fast, but the supporting resources aren't growing at the same rate causing a lot of frustration for inexperienced sales reps. When resources fail, so does the rep and in turn SHI.

Take an Entry-Level Position... then Move On.

Pros

The overall company culture and vibe is young and energetic. SHI has experienced tremendous business growth in the past 2 and half years which I had worked at the company for. They offer good benefits, opportunities to move to different departments within the company, and to make a good wage if you are working under the right team. This is a good place to start an entry-level position, just to gain some experience.

Cons

Mid and upper management have no idea how to communicate nor properly lead projects and initiatives; it is the blind leading the blind at SHI. Enormous expectations are assigned to both individuals and teams with no real direction or incentive to complete them. There is a very political climate when it comes to promotions, with senior management promoting and creating new titles for whomever they personally like, rather than choosing who is actually best qualified for a position. Seniority at the company also factors heavily when it comes to favoritism.

Pros

Career growth opportunities and the ability to make decisions on your own and with your team. Great company to make a name for yourself.

Cons

You run your own business basically in whatever role you are in at SHI. So you own up to your performance at the company whether good or bad.
