      The students and the positive impact working with them has on their academic growth.

      Not only physically but also mentally tiring. No support from upper management.

      Pros

      The only saving grace are the amazing Naturalists who go above and beyond to make sure children have the best experience at SJCOE's Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center, and the actual site is beautiful in summer and winter months.

      Cons

      As a former employee of Sky Mountain, I can tell you that this is not a safe or welcome place for any Black/African-American person. Worse experiences I’ve had in terms of racism on the job including a co-worker saying the ‘n’ word to me, and witnessing black children experience racist remarks from other children. Unsafe and unsecured premises (my vehicle along with several other employees were broken into on-site with no compensation from management last month which led me to leaving due to safety concerns). Anyone can enter premises and if I had children seeking to come here, this would deeply concern me with all the mass shootings and tragedies going on in our society.
